Blithe and Bonny
Happy and pretty — handmade in Oregon since 1996.
Blithe and Bonny takes its name from Shakespeare — it means happy and pretty — and that intention runs through everything the brand makes. Founded in 1996 by Glenda Baer from a home workshop in California, the brand spent fifteen years quietly perfecting its small-batch handmade soaps, lotions, candles and home goods before exhibiting at the San Francisco Gift Show in 2010. A buyer from Anthropologie placed an order for 165 stores shortly after. The whole family made over 24 pallets of product from their kitchen in eight weeks. That's the kind of brand story you don't forget.
Today Blithe and Bonny is a mother-and-daughter operation based in Happy Valley, Oregon — handcrafting paraben-free hand and body lotions, soy wax candles, eco-friendly dish soaps and bath products in small batches using responsibly sourced ingredients and low-impact packaging. Soaps are still wrapped in dictionary pages. The honey almond lotion, as anyone who has encountered it will confirm, is something special.
