Sweatshirts With Something Sewn On.

Hilp make soft cotton sweatshirts and t-shirts in Tartu, Estonia, and the thing that sets them apart is stitched rather than printed: appliqué figures, applied by hand, one garment at a time. The results are cheerful without tipping into novelty, which is a narrower line than it sounds.

Sizes run across the family, so it is entirely possible to end up matching with a five-year-old, deliberately or otherwise. Everything is sewn in their own studio, where they also take custom orders featuring somebody's pet, which explains a certain number of sweatshirts with a specific cat on them.

Made after you order it.

Production runs to a week or two rather than straight off a shelf, which is the trade-off for appliqué that somebody actually sat down and sewed.
