Lou-bees
Beeswax wraps from Kent. The cling film replacement that actually works.
A small handmade operation in Manston, Kent, making beeswax wraps and food storage from GOTS-certified organic cotton, infused by hand with organic beeswax, damar resin, jojoba and coconut oil. The formula is the whole thing. Beeswax and resin together give a breathable seal, so food keeps without sweating, and the tackiness comes from the warmth of your hands rather than from anything adhesive. Cover a bowl, wrap cheese, seal cut fruit, pack a sandwich, store bread. Wash cool, air dry, use again. Have a browse, or look at the wider edit of British independent brands.
What the range covers
Single wraps in small, medium, large and extra large, beeswax bags, bundles, starter kits and gift sets, with seasonal prints running from William Morris classics to short limited runs. There is a kids' range for smaller hands and lunchboxes, reusable hand warmers, and a skincare collection, which is a fair distance from where the brand started and none the worse for it. Find them with the rest of our independent kitchen and dining brands.
The test is a Tuesday
Plenty of things get bought in a burst of good intentions and then live at the back of a drawer. These are the ones that stay in use, which is the only measure of an eco product that means anything. No plastic at any stage, and compostable at the end of its life. See more in our independent homeware and home decor edit.
