Necklaces

The Most Personal Thing You Own

It sits closest to the face

A necklace catches the light before anything else does and says a great deal without being asked to. Which makes choosing one more consequential than the price suggests, and rather more consequential than the way most of them are sold.

Gold, silver, oxidised, and one or two things that are none of those

Delicate chains for layering, statement pendants for evenings that warrant them, semi-precious stones, and sculptural pieces for people who treat jewellery as something to be looked at rather than merely worn. A number of these are made by the person who designed them, at a bench, which is less common than the word handcrafted would have you believe.

Unlikely to be on anyone else's neck

Every designer here works independently, in small numbers. That is not a marketing position so much as a practical limit: there is only one of them and only so many hours.

Build the rest of it

Layer with Earrings, add Bracelets + Charms from the same makers, or see the whole of Jewellery. If it is for somebody else, Gifts for Her is a reasonable place to start.

If you're making something rather good, we'd love to hear about it.

We're selective. In the nicest possible way.
