Print Sisters

Two Hundred Years Of Pattern, Brought Back.

Alexia and Claudia started this during the first lockdown, which was a strange moment to begin anything, and built it on something rather extraordinary: one of the largest privately held collections of vintage textile design artworks in existence, running from 1823 through to the 1970s. Most of it was sourced from the French textile manufacturers of Lyon and the surrounding regions, with samples from Belgium, Italy and Britain besides. These are the original working artworks, the drawings behind the fabric, and almost nobody outside the trade has ever seen them.

The sisters restore each design, rework it and reproduce it. The Gilded editions, made during a residency at Print Club London, take an archive pattern, print it digitally, screenprint a typographic layer by hand over the top and finish it in 23 carat gold leaf, in editions of fifty. The archive poster prints run in editions of five hundred. Beyond the wall there are linen lampshades and cushions carrying the same patterns, in designs called Tree of Life, Kumo Clouds, Woodblock, Oysters and Swirls, so a room can pick up a French botanical from 1911 in more than one place.

For more for a wall, have a browse of our wall art and home and decor collections, or carry on to cushions, lighting and living room. There are more businesses like this one in women-led brands, and more close to home in British brands.
