There is a particular disappointment familiar to anyone who has bought personalised jewellery: the engraving that looked crisp in the photograph turns out to be shallow, machine-thin, and half gone within two years. Scarlett have been working the other way since 1998, from a workshop in Hove, cutting deep and finishing by hand. They design their own fonts rather than using stock ones, which is a level of fuss almost nobody goes to and the reason their pieces still read clearly a decade on.
The charms are the heart of it: intricate silver pieces with real detail in them, made for bracelets that get added to over years rather than bought complete. Around those sit nature-inspired designs, engraved and personalised pieces for men and women, and solid gold in recycled 9ct yellow and rose, cast in the UK. The silver is largely recycled, the gold is solid rather than plated, and everything is hallmarked in the UK where the weight requires it. Each piece comes with a meaning card in the box, which sounds like a small thing and is exactly what makes it a present rather than a purchase.
