Shrieking Violet

A Rose That Does Not Need Replacing On Friday.

Cut flowers are among the loveliest things anybody gives anybody, and also among the most fleeting, which is the whole bittersweet point of them and also rather a nuisance. Shrieking Violet takes miniature roses, forget-me-nots, purple verbenas and the occasional Euphorbia milii that looks startlingly like a tiny poppy, picks them at the moment the colour is at its best, dries them, and seals them in clear resin. They are then set in sterling silver, where they stay.

They are genuinely real, which is the question everyone asks: whole miniature blooms or parts of larger ones, grown and sourced by the company's own gardeners rather than manufactured to look floral. The resin is UV resistant, so the colour holds rather than fading to beige within a year. The range runs across pendants, earrings, bracelets, rings and brooches in sterling silver and gold-plated silver, from long stem roses to round and oval pendants to snake chain bracelets, and each piece arrives in a gift box with a small booklet explaining what the flowers in it traditionally mean. No two are identical, because no two flowers are.

For more to wear, have a browse of our jewellery and necklaces collections, or carry on to earrings, bracelets and charms and women's accessories. There are more good presents in our gifts for her edit, and more close to home in British makers.
