The Drawing
Toile de Jouy has spent two hundred and fifty years depicting shepherdesses, harvests and people being charming beside rivers. Ours has a wheelie bin, three enormous flies and a man in a yellow hood improving things with a spray can.
It began as an actual drawing, by hand, with pens and paint, then got worked up into a repeat pattern with all the small peculiarities left in. Nobody asked him to do it either.
Choose Your Fabric
Soft-touch velvet. Plush, deep and slightly showing off.
Dorchester linen look. Textured and relaxed. Gives the impression you have always had excellent taste.
Standard plain weave. Crisp, and content to let the drawing do the talking.
Sizes and Fittings
Round 20cm: 20cm diameter × 18.5cm high
Round 30cm: 30cm diameter × 21cm high
Round 40cm: 40cm diameter × 25cm high
Oval: 30cm × 22cm × 20cm high
Each drum lampshade is made as a ceiling shade, a table lamp shade, or an American table lamp shade with a harp fitting. Worth checking what your lamp takes before you order, because the awkward one in the corner you have been ignoring for three years may turn out to be awkward in more ways than one.
Where It Goes
The 20cm is a bedside shade. The 30cm suits a hallway, or a table lamp that does not want to dominate. The 40cm wants a room with some height, hung over a table or in the middle of a sitting room, and it is the one that makes people ask.
What You Get
The shade. Not the flex, the ceiling rose or the bulb.
If you are replacing a shade you already have, that is all you need. If you are starting from nothing, you will want a pendant kit as well.
When the Light Goes On
Unlit, it is a piece of illustrated decoration and you can read every fly. Lit, the pattern warms and softens and the whole room goes quiet. We cannot promise it will improve the conversation. It will certainly start one.
Made for You
Nothing here is made in advance. Yours is printed, cut and assembled in Britain after you order it. No warehouse full of them. No slightly panicked sale in six months because we accidentally ordered four thousand.

A Small Warning
You may start with one. Then notice the other lamp looking neglected. We accept no responsibility for what happens next.
There is no warehouse. That is rather the point, and it does have consequences.
Every brand here packs and posts its own orders, in its own boxes, with tracked delivery. The brands you can see are the ones that ship to your country, so your parcel is usually making a fairly short journey: a potter in Bristol posting to Britain, a studio in California posting within America.
Which does mean that an order from three brands arrives as three parcels, posted by three different people, on three different days. Whether that is an inconvenience or a small extended birthday rather depends on your temperament. It also means three lots of postage, shown before you pay, because we would rather mention it here than at the till.

UK Domestic: 2–5 business days
Coming from further afield: 7–14 days. Usually quicker, but let's not prmise and it will be a lovely surprise!

Fourteen days from delivery to tell us you have changed your mind, and fourteen more to get it back to us. No reason required, and we will not make you give one.
You are allowed to open it and try it on. Handle it as you would in a shop, and we will not quibble. Handle it as you would a rental car and we may deduct something for the difference.
Return postage is yours to pay, because the brand at the other end is a workshop rather than a warehouse. Some cover it themselves, and if yours does you will not be charged. Whatever you paid us to send it out, we refund either way, and the money goes back the way it came within fourteen days of the parcel reaching the brand.
A few things cannot come back, and only these: anything made or personalised to your order, sealed beauty products once the seal is broken, and anything perishable.
If something arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, none of the above applies. It costs you nothing, and we sort it.
