Haoma

It Began With A Deodorant Problem

A student, a prescription, and second thoughts

Enis Anteplioglu went to the doctor about excessive sweating and came away with a prescription for something extremely strong. He read the label, thought about it, and decided he would rather make his own. This happened in his university accommodation in Bath, as these things tend to.

He tried dozens of alternatives first. None worked. So Haoma began, named after a sacred plant from Persian legend, brought to earth by divine birds, which is a considerably grander origin than a student kitchen and we rather enjoy the gap between the two.

Formulated without the usual scaffolding

Haoma makes its products without preservatives or emulsifiers, and without the heavily processed plant-derived ingredients that fill most of the category. This is harder than it sounds and constrains what can be made, which is presumably why more brands do not bother. Everything is certified organic, certified vegan, and handmade in small batches in England.

The violet glass is not decorative

Products come in Miron violet glass, which filters most visible light while letting a particular part of the spectrum through, slowing the degradation of ingredients that have nothing synthetic keeping them stable. It also looks rather good on a shelf, which we assume was not an accident.

Also at Planet Organic

Haoma is stocked in every Planet Organic in London and in independent health stores across the UK and Europe. Have a browse through Bath, Body + Cosmetics, our Sustainable Brands, Gifts, or the rest of our British Brands.

Sorry, there are no products in this collection

If you're making something rather good, we'd love to hear about it.

We're selective. In the nicest possible way.
