Scents Named After Places That Exist

A decade in fragrance, then her own house

Sasha Lord spent ten years working in the fragrance industry before deciding to bottle her own travels. LORDS is the result: a range built entirely around places, made by hand in Oxfordshire, in packaging of racing green and hot pink that has no interest in being tasteful about it.

Yellowstone, Big Sur, Glencoe, Yala

Each scent is named after somewhere and built to smell like being there. Yala takes Ceylon black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, frankincense and amber towards a golden evening on safari in Sri Lanka. The Cotswolds is rosemary, mint, geranium, bergamot, lemon, orange and cedar. Glencoe is woody and smoky and does not pretend Scotland is warm. There is a whole passport arrangement, with a stamp for every scent you visit, which is either charming or very charming depending on your disposition.

The one made in a hammock

The Oxfordshire candle came from a difficult stretch when the garden was the only place that helped. Blackcurrant bud, rose geranium, wildflower and sweetpea over guaiacwood, musk and moss, worked out while swinging in a hammock watching bees go about their afternoon. Rather a lot of brands claim a story. This one has a specific tree.

Candles, diffusers, and a disco ball

One-wick and three-wick candles with around a hundred hours of burn, reed diffusers, room sprays, fragrance oils, scent sachets for the car or the gym bag, hand-decorated taper candles at 35cm, and a disco ball aroma diffuser that we did not see coming. Empty candle vessels can be sent back for recycling when you reorder.
