Our Approach to Product Curation
At Brix + Bailey, we work with independent creators who share our commitment to quality, ethics, and authentic craftsmanship. This policy helps ensure every product in our marketplace aligns with our values and meets legal requirements across the markets we serve.
These guidelines protect our entire community - creators, customers, and our marketplace - while helping us maintain the curated, trustworthy shopping experience our customers expect.
Products We Can't Support
While we love working with diverse creators, some products simply can't be part of our marketplace due to legal, safety, or platform considerations.
Legal Requirements
Items that violate laws:
- Counterfeit or unauthorized reproductions of branded items
- Products infringing on intellectual property rights
- Items subject to recall or safety bans
- Products requiring licenses we can't provide (like prescription medications)
- Items restricted by international trade regulations
Why this matters: Legal compliance protects both you and our shared customers, and helps us operate globally.
Safety Standards
Products with safety concerns:
- Items that haven't passed required safety certifications
- Products with known hazards or recall notices
- Electronic items without proper regulatory approvals (CE, FCC, etc.)
- Products missing required safety labels or instructions
Our commitment: We want every customer to feel confident in their purchases, which means ensuring products meet safety standards.
Platform Alignment
Items that don't fit our marketplace:
- Adult content or sexually explicit materials
- Weapons, including decorative or replica items
- Products making unsubstantiated health or medical claims
- Items designed primarily for illegal activities
- Hazardous chemicals or dangerous substances
Why we're selective: Our community includes families and people of all backgrounds. We focus on products that align with our values of creativity, craftsmanship, and positive impact.
Category-Specific Guidelines
Fashion and Accessories
We welcome: Original designs, vintage and upcycled pieces, artisan-made items, sustainable materials We can't accept: Counterfeit designer items, replica branded goods, products using trademarked designs without permission
Home and Living
We welcome: Handcrafted furniture, original art, sustainable home goods, upcycled decor We can't accept: Products requiring professional installation, items with electrical components not meeting safety standards, recalled home goods
Beauty and Personal Care
We welcome: Handmade soaps and cosmetics, natural ingredients, small-batch formulations We can't accept: Products making medical claims, items without proper ingredient labeling, products not meeting cosmetic safety regulations
Art and Collectibles
We welcome: Original artwork, limited editions, handcrafted items We can't accept: Reproductions of copyrighted works, items of questionable authenticity, products requiring special handling or storage
International Considerations
Since we serve customers worldwide, products must comply with regulations in their destination countries. This includes:
Documentation requirements: Proper labeling, ingredient lists, care instructions Import restrictions: Some countries have specific rules about materials, manufacturing, or product types Cultural considerations: Items that may be inappropriate in certain markets

How We Handle Concerns
Before listing: Our team reviews new products and partners during the application process. We'll let you know if anything needs adjustment before going live.
After listing: If we discover an issue with a product already in our marketplace, we'll contact you to discuss solutions. This might mean updating descriptions, obtaining additional certifications, or in some cases, removing the listing.
Customer feedback: If customers raise concerns about safety or compliance, we investigate thoroughly and work with you to address any issues.
Getting Help and Support

Compliance support: We understand regulations can be complex, especially for international sales. We provide guidance where we can and recommend resources for additional support.
Appeals process: If you disagree with a decision about your products, we're always willing to discuss the situation and review additional information.
Regional Requirements
European Union/UK: Products must meet CE/UKCA marking requirements, REACH regulations for chemicals, and General Product Safety Directive standards.
United States: Items must comply with relevant federal and state regulations, including FDA (food/cosmetics), CPSC (consumer products), and FTC (labeling) requirements.
Other markets: We'll help you understand specific requirements for countries where you want to sell.
Reporting Concerns
From customers: If you receive customer feedback about product safety or compliance, please share it with us. We can help investigate and find solutions.
About other products: If you notice products in our marketplace that seem to violate these guidelines, please let us know at mail@brixbailey.com.
